- Colosseum Rome — Allowed only within hand-luggage size 30x40x15 cm; backpacks 'exceeding the permitted dimensions' are prohibited (Art. 9.6). No cloakroom, so oversized backpacks are denied entry.
- Roman Forum and Palatine Hill Rome — Allowed only within hand-luggage size 30x40x15 cm; backpacks exceeding the permitted dimensions are not admitted (Art. 9.6). No cloakroom available.
- Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel Rome — Only small rucksacks allowed: when carried on the shoulders they must not exceed the widest point of the body by more than 15 cm. Larger ones must be left in the free cloakroom.
- St. Peter's Basilica Rome — Only small personal bags/backpacks allowed: 'Non sono ammessi bagagli ingombranti, trolley o zaini di grandi dimensioni. Si consiglia di portare solo piccole borse personali.' Through airport-style security. No cm limit published.
- Capitoline Museums Rome — Bulky backpacks/bags not allowed inside; must be left in the free cloakroom. Small bags allowed.
- Palazzo Barberini Rome — Mandatory deposit of bulky backpacks/bags in cloakroom ('deposito di borse e zaini voluminosi').
- Galleria Doria Pamphilj Rome — Large backpacks ('zaini di grandi dimensioni') must be deposited at the entrance before accessing the rooms (Art. 6b).
- Domus Aurea Rome — Allowed only within the 30x40x15 cm hand-luggage limit; oversized backpacks are prohibited (Art. 9.6). Bags checked at entry.
- Galleria dell'Accademia Florence Florence — Only small personal backpacks up to 40x30x18 cm allowed; large backpacks not allowed (no cloakroom).
- Pitti Palace Florence — Backpacks and cumbersome bags must be left in the cloakroom prior to entry; small bags may be carried.
- Florence Cathedral Duomo Florence — Medium and large backpacks forbidden inside; must be left at the mandatory free Luggage Storage (Piazza Duomo 38/r). Small bags may be tolerated.
- Florence Baptistery Florence — Medium and large backpacks forbidden; must be left at the mandatory free Luggage Storage (Piazza Duomo 38/r).
- Bargello Museum Florence — Large backpacks and bulky bags must be deposited in the free cloakroom; excessively large backpacks are not allowed.
- Palazzo Vecchio Florence — Big backpacks must be left in the free wardrobe; small bags may be carried.
- Medici Chapels Florence — Small backpacks allowed; large backpacks strictly forbidden inside the museum and must go in lockers.
- Doge's Palace Venice — Medium-size backpacks must be left at the free cloakroom; oversized rucksacks (over 1 linear metre total) not allowed at all.
- St. Mark's Basilica Venice — Backpacks larger than 40x30x20 cm cannot enter; smaller bags allowed but may be checked at a metal detector.
- St. Mark's Campanile Venice — Backpacks over 40x30x20 cm cannot enter; smaller bags allowed, subject to metal-detector check (same monumental-complex regulation as the Basilica).
- Gallerie dell'Accademia Venice Venice — Sizeable bags and rucksacks must be left at the cloakroom near the ticket desks.
- Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice — Large bags/backpacks not allowed inside; must be left in the free lockers at the ticket office. Small bags can be carried.
- Ca' Rezzonico Venice — Zaini voluminosi vanno lasciati al guardaroba gratuito se il personale di sicurezza ritiene non possano entrare nei percorsi espositivi; piccoli ammessi.
- Milan Cathedral Duomo and Rooftops Milan — Vietati gli zaini grandi ('large rucksacks'); piccoli zaini ammessi ma soggetti a controllo di sicurezza (sez. 2.6, 2.2).
- The Last Supper Cenacolo Vinciano Milan — Zaini ingombranti vietati all'interno; vanno depositati negli armadietti in biglietteria prima dell'accesso. Zaini piccoli passano il controllo visivo/metal detector.
- Pinacoteca di Brera Milan — Solo zaini/borse di piccole dimensioni; gli armadietti sono riservati a borse e zaini di piccole dimensioni.
- Sforza Castle Milan Milan — Zaini ingombranti vanno depositati negli armadietti del guardaroba accanto alla biglietteria; non ammessi nelle sale.
- Gallerie d'Italia Milan Milan — Zaini/borse >20x30 cm devono essere depositati al guardaroba (obbligatorio); borse piu piccole accolte anche in custodia.
- Museo del Novecento Milan Milan — Borse voluminose e zaini vanno depositati negli appositi armadietti/guardaroba.
- Pompeii Archaeological Park Pompeii — Permitted only within 30x30x15 cm; larger backpacks count as bulky bags and must be left in the left luggage area.
- Herculaneum Ercolano — Allowed only up to 30x30x15 cm; bulky backpacks must be left at the free luggage room.
- Naples National Archaeological Museum MANN Naples — Large bags and rucksacks are not permitted inside and must be left in the free lockers; deposit of backpacks is mandatory.
- Royal Palace of Caserta Caserta — Backpacks over 40x30x10 cm must be deposited at cloakroom; smaller ones allowed but must be worn on the front. Baby-carrier backpacks not allowed (only front-worn infant carriers).
- Louvre Museum Paris — Large bags not allowed in the museum; smaller bags up to 55x35x20 cm permitted, otherwise must go in a free locker.
- Eiffel Tower Paris — Bags allowed but subject to security inspection and must fit the on-site measuring gauge; no official cm limit. Oversized bags refused; no storage available.
- Palace of Versailles Versailles — Small bags allowed; bags over 55x35x20 cm not admitted and must go to free left luggage.
- Musee d'Orsay Paris — Backpacks must be deposited in the cloakroom before entering; only items within W56xH45xD25 cm accepted
- Sainte-Chapelle Paris — Only 'bulky luggage/bags' are explicitly prohibited; small bags pass the X-ray security check. Size not specified officially.

- Galleria Borghese Rome — Backpacks (zaini) forbidden in exhibition halls; must be left in the cloakroom. Only small pouches/pochette up to 21x15 cm allowed inside.
- Uffizi Gallery Florence — Must be stored in the free cloakroom prior to entry; baby backpacks / large luggage not allowed inside at all.
- Brunelleschi Dome Florence Florence — Medium and large backpacks are forbidden on the Dome climb (463 steps, no elevator); must be left at the free Luggage Storage.
- Giotto Campanile Florence — Medium and large backpacks forbidden on the climb (414 steps, no elevator); leave at the free Luggage Storage.
- Pinacoteca Ambrosiana Milan — Backpacks must be deposited free of charge at the entrance; not allowed in galleries.
- Paestum Archaeological Park Paestum — Access with backpacks or bulky bags is prohibited: 'l'accesso ai Parchi con zaini o borse ingombranti'. No cloakroom to deposit them.
