Will my bag fit?
Colosseum's published limit: 40 × 30 × 15 cm. Enter your bag's size (cm) to check it.
Measure the outside of the bag, including handles, wheels and pockets. Security staff have the final word — this is a quick check, not a guarantee.
Can you bring a bag or backpack inside?
Allowed only within hand-luggage size 30x40x15 cm; backpacks 'exceeding the permitted dimensions' are prohibited (Art. 9.6). No cloakroom, so oversized backpacks are denied entry. Maximum item size: max 30x40x15 cm (hand luggage).
Suitcases & large luggage
Suitcases and trolleys exceeding the permitted dimensions are explicitly prohibited (Art. 9.6); with the 30x40x15 cm cap and no luggage storage, normal suitcases are effectively not allowed.
Lockers, cloakroom & luggage storage
Official regulation (Art. 7.7) states the Park has no cloakroom or luggage storage ('Il Parco archeologico del Colosseo non e dotato di guardaroba o deposito bagagli'). Anything over 30x40x15 cm cannot be brought in or left anywhere.
Large bags and suitcases must be stored before you arrive — drop them at a nearby luggage storage.

Allowed inside means you can carry the item with you through the galleries or the site. Storage available means it isn't allowed with you, but you can leave it in a locker or cloakroom and collect it on the way out. A venue can offer storage and still refuse oversized suitcases entirely — so a large suitcase may be neither allowed inside nor accepted for storage. When in doubt, travel light or store luggage off-site before you arrive.
