Colosseum: bag policy & entry rules
At Colosseum you can bring camera. Backpack, umbrella and pets are allowed only with conditions. Suitcase, food, tripod and e-scooter are not allowed. There is no cloakroom on site.

Allowed only within hand-luggage size 30x40x15 cm; backpacks 'exceeding the permitted dimensions' are prohibited (Art. 9.6). No cloakroom, so oversized backpacks are denied entry.

The official prohibited-items article (Art. 9.6) references umbrella size ('ombrelli di dimensioni non superiori ad un metro'); large/long umbrellas are restricted, a compact umbrella is the safe choice. Wording is ambiguous in both IT and EN texts.

What the rules do and don't say about these
- Water bottle: Only glass bottles ('bottiglie in vetro') are explicitly prohibited (Art. 9.6); plastic water bottles are not addressed in the official regulation.
- Metal bottle: Metal/reusable bottles are not addressed in the official regulation; only glass bottles are explicitly banned.
- Stroller: Strollers/prams (passeggini) are not mentioned in the official visitor regulation nor on the official accessibility page.
Will my bag fit?
Colosseum's published limit: 40 × 30 × 15 cm. Enter your bag's size (cm) to check it.
Measure the outside of the bag, including handles, wheels and pockets. Security staff have the final word — this is a quick check, not a guarantee.
There is no cloakroom here — large bags and suitcases can't be brought in or left anywhere. Drop them at a luggage storage in Rome before you go.
